High/Low/Medieval Fantasy Worlds without high technology, featuring different kinds of species and races with their own cultures, histories and mythologies. I tend to prefer to keep the fantasy elements to the world itself, magic, etc. and not so much in the character races/species. The types I enjoy are mainly humans, elves, and faeries. Disclaimer: There are some creatures, humanoid and otherwise, that I am not particularly into using personally (e.g. orcs, dwarves, giants...). This can be discussed in more detail as appropriate. Urban/Contemporary Fantasy Our world, or something similar, with the same level of technology as we know to this date or higher. The supernatural elements can be the addition of beings apart from humans, humans developing supernatural gifts/powers or something else entirely. Disclaimer: I burned out on vampires and werewolves years ago, so it would take something spectacular to make me go for plots involving those. It would also take a really good plot/prompt to make me go into the whole superhero thing. Modern Slice of Life, Dark themes, Odd Pairings, Conspiracies/Undercover operations/Crime. Disclaimer - Odd Pairings: The kinds of "Odd Pairings" I do are more often about background and/or socioeconomic status than huge age gaps, crime or power dynamics in the relationships. Sci-Fi Science Fiction as related to advanced technology, futuristic science and dystopian settings. Disclaimer: Space and time travel type plots are a no-go. Historical Plots inspired by or based on historical periods and/or events. Disclaimer: I don't go into too much detail regarding timelines and events here. I'm a linguist, not a historian - so my knowledge of history is not good enough to follow intricate history plots well and you should not have to lead me by the hand. Dynamics: Romance: MxF strictly, since I don't think I can do MxM or FxF justice. I can play both genders and I double relatively often which always means at least one main character of each gender. If only using one main character, female is my comfort zone but I do make exceptions. I personally think romance makes for a nice addition to pretty much any roleplay, as long as it fits into the plot. Most of my own plots include romance as a key element. Non-romance: Any and all genders and orientations are welcome for platonic relationships between characters. Emotional Setting: My plots tend to be somewhat dark in nature, since they simply aren't as much fun without challenges, power-struggles and danger. There's gotta be some angst, pain, hardship and adventure to keep me entertained. The only exception to this is my Slice of Life RP's, which I go for when I want something more light-hearted. |
Don'tsGenres:
Fandoms I will make it clear from the start that I have no interest in any fandoms whatsoever. I'm an avid reader and gamer but I won't ever roleplay in these universes or any others, no canons and no OCs. That said, it is perfectly acceptable to take inspiration from things you like - as long as you keep it original. Celebrities This is another hard rule for me. Similarly to how I will not do Fandoms, I will not do anything involving roleplaying celebrities. To me it is very similar to playing canon characters in Fandoms - only worse since it involves actual people who are or were alive at some point. This kind of thing always reeks of fantasy fulfillment, in my opinion, and I will have none of it. Disclaimer: This does not apply to face claims, if you use them. Although you should know that I don't typically use them myself and I probably won't be thrilled to see famous actors and artists as face claims. Space I am not, nor will I ever be, interested in Space-related plots. This applies to anything related to Space Travel, Aliens and Alternate Worlds/Universes in context of Space Travel. Post Apocalyptic I am simply not a fan of Post Apocalyptic roleplay for the most part, especially not if it involves Zombies and/or Aliens. It would take a real good plot, void of the aforementioned things, to get me interested here. Anthropomorphic/Animals Only humans and certain humanoids, such as elves of different kinds, are acceptable in my world. I have no interest in writing from the perspective of an animal - part human or not. I did that enough during my early years. Disclaimer: In some fantasy settings I can be okay with humans shapeshifting into animals though - provided they keep their human minds and don't remain in animal form forever. Dynamics and Other Limits: - No smut-only RPs. - While I'm perfectly fine with NSFW, I don't want it to be the main focus point of my stories. - No major age gaps or teacher/student type power dynamics. - I prefer for main characters in the stories I get involved in to be on at least somewhat of an even playing field. As such, I am not interested in dynamics where one character is a lot older than the other or in a particular position of authority over them, such as a teacher over a student or similar. - No extreme kinks. - As boring as it might be for some people, I am a rather 'vanilla' type of person. So, when it comes to kinks of the more extreme types - they are not for me. I am always more than happy to discuss limits etc. to make sure that we are on the same page. |
