Rules & Limits
Let's face it - we all have them.
Please take the time to read them, it will make everything easier for both of us. 1. Please don't ghost me. This is my most important rule. I understand that you can get too busy or tire of plots, but then please tell me so. There is nothing worse than being left hanging after someone leaves without a word. I will let you know if I want to quit and I expect the same back, and I will never be difficult about ending a story if my partner is not getting enjoyment out of it. 2. Be literate to advanced in your writing. Yes, this might sound a bit harsh but like many, I prefer my partners to match my level. I tend to request a writing sample in order to gauge compatibility in this and other regards. I am a native-level speaker but not native, so I might make the occasional mistake but I make a point of making them as few as possible and learning from them as they occur. Feel absolutely free to point them out, I will thank you for it! That said, I have been known to take on more inexperienced roleplayers given that they can show me that they know their grammar and have some amount of skill or natural talent in writing. 3. Have patience. I am not a daily poster. Like most other people, I have my share of routines and activities outside of writing that allow me to pay rent as well as keep me healthy, physically and mentally. In addition to this, I tend towards longer replies in most, if not all, of my roleplays. So, one or a few posts per week is more my speed, unless we are rapid-fire posting conversation/action scenes or I happen to be in a "flow" of sorts at the time. I always do my best to keep active and to inform my partners when I will not be able to. It can be due to lack of time or lack of muse, but I need you to be understanding of this. Life comes first, for both of us. 4. 18+ is required, since I do not want to feel restricted in what I write due to a partner being a minor. It is simply a matter of me being comfortable writing about, well, anything really with you. 5. Limits. I have few limits for what I will write about, but my main concern is that it needs to be a logical and natural part of the story. I will not write smut just to write smut, and the same goes for language and violence. For smut, this is all under the assumption that things remain relatively 'vanilla' as it were. I'm not much for kinks and such, especially not the more extreme stuff. I will also let you know that there are times where I would rather fade to black, it depends on the mood and I would like to keep that option open. I rely upon establishing a mutual trust with my writing partners in order to feel comfortable enough to explore NSFW (especially smut) themes. This essentially means that I prefer to build up to such things over diving right in, unless I already know you well enough. I ask that you please respect this. At the end of the day, I believe that open communication is the best way to handle limits when writing a story together. 6. 3rd Person, Past Tense, No Oneliners. While the length of my replies does vary due to pace, muse and time, I will never give you anything shorter than a paragraph unless we have agreed otherwise. I tend to average around 700 words in posts, some being way above 1000 words and some less than 500. Naturally, I also do shorter rapid-fire posts at times - especially for action and conversation scenes. I value quality over quantity, but how much quality can you really fit in one sentence? |
